Countries That Speak Spanish
81Spanish language is one of the most popular languages of the world. Only Chinese is ahead of it. And it’s not a surprise as Spanish is spoken in 21 countries of the world. Here is the list of countries that speak Spanish with a short description of each of them. (By the way, if you’re about learning Spanish, you should visit this awesome resource. - Spain (the Kingdom of Spain). Spain is located on the Iberian Peninsula in south-western Europe. It’s bordered by Andorra, France, and the Bay of Biscay to the north, by the Mediterranean Sea and Gibraltar to the south and east, and by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean to the north-west and west. The Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, and two autonomous cities Melilla and Ceuta in North belongs to Spain as well. The area of Spain is 504,030 square kilometers and its population is 46,157,822 people according to the 2008 census. The capital of Spain is Madrid.
- Mexico (the United Mexican States). Mexico is located in North America and is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the south and west, by the United States on the north, by the Gulf of Mexico on the east, and by Belize, Guatemala, and the Caribbean Sea on the south-east. The area of Mexico is 1,972,550 square kilometers and the population is 103,263,388 (2005). The capital of Mexico is Mexico City.
- Guatemala. Guatemala is a country in Central America. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the south-west, by Mexico on the north and west, by the Caribbean Sea on the east, by Belize on the north-east, and by El Salvador and Honduras on the south-east. It covers about 110,000 square kilometers with an estimated population of 13 million people. The capital of Guatemala is Guatemala City.
- Honduras. Honduras is situated in Central America. It’s bordered by El Salvador on the south-west, by Guatemala on the west, by the Gulf of Fonseca on the south, by Nicaragua on the south-east, and by the Gulf of Honduras on the north. Its area is over 110,000 square kilometers and its population is almost 7.5 million people. The capital of Honduras is Tegucigalpa.
- El Salvador. El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America. It’s bordered by Guatemala, the Pacific Ocean, and Honduras. It covers only 21,000 square kilometers and has a population of about 6 million people (2007). The capital of El Salvador is San Salvador.
- Nicaragua. Nicaragua is located in Central America. It is bordered by Costa Rica on the south, by Honduras on the north, the Caribbean Sea on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It’s the largest country in Central America, its area is about 130,000 square kilometers and its population is 5,675,356 people. The capital of Nicaragua is Managua.
- Costa Rica. Costa Rica is a country in Central America. It is bordered Panama on the south and east, by Nicaragua on the north, by the Caribbean Sea on the east, and by the Pacific Ocean on the south and west. The capital of Costa Rica is San Jose.
- Panama. Panama is situated in Central America. It’s bordered by Colombia on the south-east, by Costa Rica on the north-west, by the Pacific Ocean on the south, and by the Caribbean Sea on the north. The capital of Panama is Panama City.
- Cuba. Cuba is an island and a country in the Caribbean Sea. It includes the Isla de la Juventud, the island of Cuba, and some archipelagos. The capital of Cuba is Havana.
- Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic is a country, located on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean region. The country covers 48,442 square kilometers and has a population of about 10 million people. The capital of Dominican Republic is Santo Domingo.
- Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a territory of USA that was not incorporated, and is located in the Caribbean region to the west of the Virgin Islands and to the east of the Dominican Republic. The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan.
- Venezuela. Venezuela is a tropical country in South America. It is bordered by Brazil on the south, by Guyana on the east, and by Colombia on the west. It covers the territory of 916,445 square kilometers anв its population is 26,414,816 people. The capital of Venezuela is Caracas.
- Colombia. Colombia is a country in the northwestern South America. It’s bordered by Peru and Ecuador on the south, by Brazil and Venezuela on the east, by the Pacific Ocean on the west, and by the Caribbean Sea on the north. The capital of Colombia is Bogota.
- Ecuador. Ecuador is another country in South America. It is bordered by by Peru on the south and east, by Colombia on the north, and by the Pacific Ocean on the west. It covers the area of 256,371 square kilometers, and its capital is Quito.
- Peru. Peru is a country in South America. It’s bordered by Brazil on the east, by Colombia and Ecuador on the north, by Chile on the south, by Bolivia on the south-east, and by the Pacific Ocean on the west. Population of Peru is estimated at 29 million people. Its capital is Lima.
- Bolivia. Bolivia is a country, situated in the center of South America. It’s bordered by Argentina and Paraguay on the south, by Brazil on the east and north, and by Peru and Chile to the west. The Bolivian population is almost 9 million people. It has two capitals: La Paz and Sucre.
- Paraguay. Paraguay is a country in South America. It is bordered by Brazil on the north-east and east, by Argentina on the south-west and south, and by Bolivia on the north-west. The capital of Paraguay is Asuncion.
- Chile. Chile is a country in South America. It is bordered by Bolivia on the north-east, Peru on the north, Drake Passage on the south, and Argentina on the east. The capital of Chile is Santiago.

What kind of question is that? They speak Spanish because that is the language they learned and Spanish was formed for some significant reason just like English. Why don't we just all speak Spanish?
